Trent and Brad visit UK Aged Care facility
Welcome to London, 11 degrees, overcast and a breeze that could freeze water. It was exactly how you would expect London to be.
Trent & I had the opportunity to complete a business course at Cambridge. It was a fly in fly out visit. Other than visit the main tourist destinations, we also visited a privately owned Aged Care Facility in Kensington just near Notting Hill. This is quite a distinguished area.
We were very fortunate to be given a guided tour of the 53 private roomed facility. It’s an elegantly converted Victorian terraced house situated in an attractive residential area. The building retains many original architectural features and the layout has a relaxed, homely atmosphere. The facility is surrounded by beautiful grounds with patio areas and old English gardens.
From our discussions with the facility it appears they are following our pricing methods for their residents. They introduced a new means tested fee change in April 2015 with further changes due this April. However these have been postponed until 2020. While Australia appears to be following the direction of the Consumer Directed Care from the UK the new means tested fees are very similar to the changes we introduced back in 2014. The rising costs of providing care for the elderly is obviously a world-wide problem.
Unfortunately we didn’t have time to stay for the afternoon tea, which looked delightful. We would both like to thank the lovely staff at The Kensington for their time.
