Aged Care in Hobart

Hobart Tour

While the adviser team were attending a Professional Advice Conference we took the opportunity to visit St Ann’s Home Davey Street aged care facility.  St Ann’s Homes Inc has been providing accommodation, care and services since 1922.  RAD’s range from $250,000 – $550,000.  They have many activities for the residents and external tours.

This is becoming quite an interesting traditional of ours, visiting facilities when we go away on business.  While the aged care system in Tasmania is the same as ours here in Queensland, the interesting part was the history they have kept involving our convict heritage.

Tasmania prides itself on keeping their historical records.  After doing a tour of Port Arthur and reading the stories of what happened to the older convicts who had to share accommodation with the mentally ill.  I can only imagine how envious they would feel knowing the standard of facilities today.  While St Ann’s facility administration does operate out of a building from the 1800’s the rest of the facility is new and very comfortable.

Caring for our aged has come a long way since the landing of Capt James Cook, the rapid increase in standards from the 1990’s has also increased significantly.  This has now created with some complicated financial implications.  I am seeing more need for specialist aged care advice.  Please feel free to contact our team if you have any questions, we are more than happy to help you or your clientele.
